Exposure of building occupants to radon, detection of radon in buildings and reduction techniques applied are dealt with. Technical solutions, their effectiveness and cost are studied in France, the United States, Switzerland, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Marine radioecology makes it possible to know and understand changes in the levels of radioactivity on the shore and off the coast. It enables investigations to be carried out on the consequences of discharge at sea by nuclear installations. The IRSN activities in the matter bring to light the state of artificial radioactivity in the oceans, as well as the evolution of artificial radioactivity introduced into the sea.
